In this article, You will learn how to choose the right e-commerce software for your online store and business. Choosing an eCommerce platform for an online business is one of the toughest, if not the biggest decisions an entrepreneur will have to make. If this choice is made in a hurry, without the right information, they risk investing time and money into a platform that will not meet their needs. The initial costs associated with choosing the wrong e-commerce platform can significantly impact the success and longevity of their business.
Choosing The Right eCommerce Software For Your Needs
Prospective e-commerce clients will be asking how should we approach our online business. But the first question no one is telling them is answering questions like:
What is your online store need?
What tools are integral to your business?
What type of online store will you be running?
And ultimately, what capacity are you ready to operate?
These needs will have to be navigated as it varies from individual store owners. When these are done, you should be able to have a clear part of what you need for your online store and what eCommerce platform or tools will best serve your needs.
In today’s market, there are two main types of platforms for e-commerce business owners:
Fully-hosted e-commerce platforms
Open source e-commerce platforms
A fully-hosted e-commerce platform gives you the freedom to automate most of the daunting task so you don’t have to waste time with tweaking and designing. Which can also require coding or programming experience. With fully-hosted e-commerce platform, you just focus on products and sales and also responding to your customer need by improvising sales.
But an open source e-commerce platforms means you have to do a lot of the heavy lifting yourself. This like getting your own hosting, security, POS, kits, and apps, designing of website, tweaking to perfection, demography mapping and a whole lot of other shenanigans which can take ages. Meaning if you are not vast with computer programing of coding language, you will spend a lot more on outsourcing and lot of your precious time setting things up.
Today I am not only going to educate you on benefits of Shopify. I will also be letting you know the need to understand the added value that comes with working with a fully-hosted solution all in one best e-commerce software like Shopify.

It is first of all very important that you understand the benefits of a hosted e-commerce platforms before you can actually decide which type product or service you want to sell on your online store. In my researches, I have seen a lot of folks who get this confused most times. Some even asked if they can just set up an online store with any content management system like WordPress slap PayPal buy button on it.
Yes you can this just that but only if you know what you are doing and
If you are ready to do lots of coding,
Know which point of sale to use
Know which payment integration
Know which payment gateway suits you and how to negotiate for it
Which credit card transaction detail security and encryption to implement
Know the various laws governing credit card transactions and security, and a lot more issues to deal with.
These problems are faced by entrepreneurs who chose to go with an open source e-commerce platform with the hope of saving money and doing it themselves.

If you have any question or comments please do so in the box provided below and I will get back to you. After watching the video course above, I am sure you can know how to increase your business sales on Shopify much faster.
Are you currently self-employed? Have you been able to create a business that provides for you and your family? If so, that’s great! I believe that in 2016 it is more important than ever to to be in control of your financial future, and I applaud everyone who is able to make that happen.
Here’s the problem – many of us figure out to how to create profitable businesses with the goal of creating more freedom for ourselves, but we end up building jobs for ourselves. Jobs that are likely more demanding than those of our friends and family. Sure, as business owners we should be benefiting from higher salaries, but at what expense? Far too often do I see small business owners that over-worked and under-satisfied.
Well, my friend Anton Kraly was actually on the path to being in this exact situation right out of college. He was looking into offline businesses, and his goal was actually to open a network of franchises that he could build up, work 80+ hours/week at, then eventually sell… you know – so that he could retire “young” and actually start enjoying all that life has to offer.
Luckily for Anton, he was introduced to the world of eCommerce right around this time, and it literally changed the entire trajectory of his life’s plan. After almost a decade of success within this industry, he am sharing what he has learned with you as his way of giving back, and saving other people who want to escape the rat race (like you) from the far too common life of too much work and not enough free time.
So, why eCommerce? More specially, why drop shipping?
eCommerce is a huge industry, and it’s still growing like crazy. In fact, it’s expected to reach over $400 billion by 2017 in the USA alone!
It’s important for me to note that when I refer to eCommerce, I am referring to selling physical products online. When I refer to drop shipping, I am referring to selling other people’s physical products online. I am talking about about having an online store from which your customers can buy, and then having OTHER people ship these items to your customers. That’s the beauty of drop shipping!
Here is a couple examples of demo stores if you want to have a look:
Anton’s company, which has been in business since 2007, has built DOZENS of stores just like these. They design the sites, they make deals with the product suppliers, they get sales on websites, and their suppliers ship the items to their customers.
They are basically authorized retailers for tens of thousands of products that they’ve never had to see or touch! And these stores have brought in well over $5 million dollars in sales for them! All while never having to see or pre-purchase ANY inventory.
So why am I telling you all of this? No, it’s not to brag. It’s because you’re a small business owner, just like me. And even though you may not understand all the details of what it is that I’m talking about yet, I want to help you to. Like I said earlier, I almost got sucked into a life of the offline business grind, but I was lucky enough to find another way, and now I am sharing that way with you.
If you’re looking for a new business model that can help you build an income, I would highly recommend drop shipping. If you can follow a proven system, it’s super easy to implement. Many of my students have gone on to make their first sales within a matter of weeks. You don’t have to be an expert (or have any experience at all, for that matter), when it comes to running an online business.
The startup costs are extremely low. Anton started his first eCommerce business for $29 and it went on to do over $300,000 in sales his first year!
You get to really be creative and make business decisions. Owning an eCommerce store is like owning an offline store (except with MUCH less overhead, and much more opportunity). You get to design it, you get to control it, you’re the boss!
This is truly a “location independent” business. You don’t need an office, you don’t need employees, all you need is a laptop and Internet connection and you can run you business from wherever you want, whenever you want.
You are ultimately in control of your income. Want to make a couple thousand extra bucks per month? Then do this part-time. Want to build an empire and work towards getting a new Lamborghini? Then run with this business and scale, scale, scale!
This business model allows you to develop your skills in sales, customer service, web design, marketing, and supplier relations. As you learn, you will become a better overall business man or woman.
Want to know more about how this entire process works from someone who done over 5 million is sales using this business model? Well, good news:
Anton, the creator of the Drop Ship Lifestyle course himself, is hosting a LIVE training to teach the fundamentals of Drop Shipping. It’s coming up soon, and I recommend you’re there for the training – I know I will be!

Getting your first sale or your first customer is very important for every entrepreneur. But marketing a new business can take great time and effort especially with thousands of tactics and ways of promoting one these days.
This is a common problem among new beginners. Even more problematic for those who already have a store set up but still struggling to make a sale.
This is why I have put together a list of result yielding marketing strategies to help new and existing entrepreneurs revamp their marketing effort, drive insane traffic to their store and make their first sale in 30 days.
I called this getting your first sale in 30 days: the Samurai way not in a sword-wielding fashion like the skilled dude in the picture above. But in a quick and sharp focused way just as the image portrays.
With that said, I will strongly suggest that you focus all your attention on how to drive traffic to your store from now and worry less about perfecting your design.
Why You Should Focus More On Getting Traffic To Your New Store
From my findings, 75% of all new store owners do worry about perfection. These include tweaking and designing their store to look the best. There are numerous details one can easily get caught up in which can easily cause significant derailment from the main objective 0f making sales from your online store as soon as possible.
The truth is, you will never know what is out there which that fits or works with your store or product until you start exposing your business to the world.
The following reason is also why you should focus on traffic as soon as your store is up and running:
With traffic, you will actually get to know what product has more traction on your store
With traffic, you can actually see how much people are ready to spend on your product
With traffic, you can determine what price is best served for your goods.
With traffic, you can actually relate to your market audience and better understand them.
On the other hand, if you are still worried about perfection and readiness before looking for traffic, here are the checklist that will get you ready:
Connect all your sales channels to your Shopify business and add any available sales Channels. This will enable you to reach out to a wider audience.
Be sure to add a custom domain to your store. It doesn’t matter if it was purchased from Shopify or somewhere else.
Be sure to double check your checkout Payment Gateway setting. The best way is to place an order by yourself and see how it works through to check out and refunds.
Check your email notifications and make sure that the auto reminder for an incomplete transaction is working.
Make sure all grammar and spelling are mistakes free on your contents.
Add contact method for your customers to reach you easily.
Go for the only app that you need and are essential to your store functionalities.
Make sure your billing information is well set up.
Moving forward, you have to always check and see what is selling and what is not and optimize. Make sure you use tools like Google Analytic to keep a tap on these trends.
For the sake of clarity, I will make these strategies available as a list or checklist if you want. This way you have a better chance of implementing them in the next 30 days and if you do, you will surely make a sale on or before then.
Now I must emphasize here that these strategies will not work if you rely only on reading it and doing nothing about using it. It will require your effort and time.
I personally used some of these methods on one of my affiliate program and I got a result within few weeks.
Before I digress, below are the list of Free Traffic Source you can start exploring immediately to expose your online store.
Offline Traffic To Your Online Store
Offline traffic is something you cannot walk away from when you have an online store set up. This method is easily overlooked by many entrepreneurs.
I remember the first time I attended one of these affiliate seminars near my city I had no idea what to expect. In the end, it was a group of professionals coming together to connect and share ideas and aspirations. As well as finding new ways to improve affiliate marketing.
Offline marketing feels exactly the same way. You never know what is out there until you start taking action in reaching out to people.
The best practice to maximize this method is to:
Arm yourself with your complimentary cards.
Make sure your card contains all your contact details as well as your online profile like your website and email.
Offer people a discount on your store when you interact.
Tell your friend and family to check it out.
Go to your local newspaper and place an advert (most of these are free or relatively free)
Connect with a friend who has access to the printing press for a free flyer and makes sure that it goes around your city or locality.
Get involved with a local business community in your area. If you can’t find one check with your city Chamber of Commerce for updates.
Get Traffic From Social Media and Forums
By sharing a link to your store in an online forum and communities your market audience frequent could do you a lot. Even better if you are already a member. A lot of entrepreneurs underestimate the fact that putting a link or two to your site can make a lot of difference.
The list of social media sites to get involved if you are not a member already are:
Quora where lots of folks ask questions relating to anything and so could you. I am a current member and I actually got a congratulation letter from them for best answers to questions. It is a great place to get instant feedback .
Inbound: This is like Quora with a little twist. You have to be a member as well and you will need to contribute before you can share. The great here is you can also place you store link strategically on your contributions to other people thought. Only be sure it is relevant. Not Spamming.
Reddit: Just like Quora and Inbound, this is another powerful place to get good traction back to your store. Again you have to be a member and you will need to contribute to others comment a lot before you can summit article. The rules are very strict but when done right can be a goldmine of traffic back to your store.
Other great source of free traffic and feedback from forums are:
r/Entrepreneur: This can be found within Reddit groups and it is a point blank made up of online store entrepreneurs.
There is a Facebook Group call Grow and Sell Facebook Group and in LinkedIn, there is another group called Bright Ideas and Entrepreneurs Group
You can let your social medial followers on Facebook, twitter, Linkedln, Instagram, etc know about your online store.
You can also email close friends and relatives directly after you launch. Asking them to help you share the link to your store on their social media networks.
You may also want to check out which social media has the best growth potentials here. This will also give you a good idea of where the future of social media is heading towards to.
I will recommend joining groups that resonates with your niche product. Especially if it is narrowed down a bit more closer to your niche for example: If your store sells towels then i will say join a group that talks about hotels ratings and international resorts.
You can find lots of forum on eCommerce topic that are good fertile ground for organic traffic and follow their rules right. Shopify forum can easily be found on Facebook and is a great place to get connected and gain insightful ideas from big players.
A lot of questions are been asked on this forum everyday and lots of great answers are provided by experts or someone who has just gone through a similar situation like you.
Also, there is Shopify build a bigger business competition going on you can get involved with right now. The team behind it does this every year but this time it is even bigger. You can read this article about it here and see if you qualifies to get involved.
My recommendation here is to get involved, be active, share and like content or post from other forum members and do contribute positively. If done right, you will see steady traffic coming to your store from those who like your contributions. Do remember that when ever they like or share your content, it shows on their status. This translates to more traffic for you when their friends click on the link.
Shopify do have their own blog with massive followers and readers. In fact, there is a post on this very topic as well on their blog which dealt with various other topic I may have not covered here. Shopify blog is constantly updated as well and it is a great place to find out what it trending on eCommerce industry as well.
My recommendation is to do a wider search and extend your information gathering technique to other similar sites and blogs. For example, there is an insightful review of Shopify on this site that reveals quit a lot from a user perspective.
Do not overload yourself with information. Set a plan and follow it one step at a time with a decision. And always take action towards your goal. Do not procrastinate.
Pay Per Click Advertising
Paid advertising is in fact the only quickest way to get results into your online store. This can come in form of quick traffic and possible sales, feedback and your customers reaction.
At some point, you have to spend at least a little amount on PPC. Organic traffic from search engine is the holy grail of success in online business but such traffic takes time. Therefore the only way to get action into your store is by paying for traffic on Google Ad or Bing Ad.
The good news is that some platform allow a minimum starting budget of $15 or less. It can be very expensive if you do not know how to do PPC advertising. But the main reason to jump into PPC soon as your store is ready is as follows:
You are in control of your traffic because you are paying for it.
You can target any keyword without worrying about search engine algorithms.
You can curate your content to make it as relevant as it can get so as to increase your conversion
You can stop, pause or enable your adverts anytime.
You can chose how you pay and any budget that suits you.
Two main platform to consider for your PPC are Google Ad which has 75% of the market share and Bing Ad which has 25%. Even such a percentage is still a huge market with tons of traffic on its own and I will start with Bing Ad if I am in the position of a new store owner.
From my experience, the quickest and surest way to make your first sale in 30 days is by investing a little on Pay Per Click marketing tactics.
This is because, you are in control of your traffic. You are paying for it. So you can direct it to any page you want on your store without worrying about algorithm or Google panda as the case may be.
Finally, you can see how possible it is to get your first sale in 30 days the samurai way. You can apply all the mentioned techniques and also look into Shopify forum, Shopify blog, Shopify pricing techniques as well as using Shopify seo and Google analytic to evaluate your data. All these are organic traffic which last forever. But for quickest and surest way to make a sale, use Pay Per click marketing tactics

In this Shopify eCommerce platform review, you will find insightful answers to questions like; what is Shopify? Where and when did Shopify start? Is Shopify secure? How much does it cost to sell on Shopify? What pros and cons are associated with this eCommerce platform and what are people saying about it.
Where Did Shopify Start?
Shopify eCommerce platform “was founded in 2004, by a Canadian e-commerce company Situated in Ottawa Ontario. Its services were initially based on software written by its founder Tobias Lutke for their snowboard store. The company reports that it has over 300,000 merchants using its platform thereby generating about $10 billion”. Source: Wikipedia
Website: www.shopify.co.uk (which is the Shopify Inc. Canada)
Owner: Tobias Lutke
What It Does: Powering over 300,000 + Stores Online
Shopify eCommerce platform is a web dependable application that gives you the opportunity to create your own online store with ease. A solution that gives you what you need to set up your online store with zero technical or coding experience. A complete turnkey eCommerce from end to end.
The core competency within Shopify as my research tells me is their ability to bring e-commerce solutions to both specialist and newbies with ease without the hassle of a middleman or duplicated due process.
This means anyone without much in the way of design or technical skills can build an online store and say bye bye to a design agency.
The platform also makes things much easier for people that are familiar with HTL and CSS because they are allowed to edit both and have a good amount of control over their framework.
How Much Does It Cost To Sell On Shopify
If this is your first time, then you will be pleased to find out that there are five Shopify Plans one can choose from to suit your business needs, Which, to be frank, is quite different from what other competitors are offering as my ongoing research tells me.
The five plans are:
Shopify Lite = $9 per month
Basic Shopify = $29 per month
Shopify = $79 per month
Advanced Shopify = $229 per month
Shopify Plus = The fees here are negotiable as they cater for a client with big businesses that attracts huge transactions.
From my findings, it will be good to point out here that there is no such thing as something for nothing within the Shopify e-commerce platform. It is a professional e-commerce platform built for the sole purpose of helping folk achieve their e-commerce dreams with ease and peace of mind.
Among all the plans offered, the ‘Shopify Lite’ plan is the cheapest at $9 per month and obviously not the ultimate plan that can bring you success. If you really want to build a successful online eCommerce store, then their ‘Basic Shopify’, ‘Shopify’ and ‘Advanced Shopify’ plans will be a better suit for you.
On the other hand, if you already have a website like WordPress, Joomla, Wix, etc and you just needed some sort of eCommerce to tweak your website into an online store, then the Shopify Lite plan will be the best option to get.

Abandoned cart recovery functionality which basically means an auto-email sent to your customers who did not complete their order as a reminder to do so. These works in two ways: First it enables you to view the number of customers who actually abandoned their carts and lets you manually send them a reminder email. Secondly, you can tell Shopify to send them auto-email with a link containing the abandoned carts on your online store.
A gift card
Also if you opt for the Shopify Plus which by the way is the best and most expensive package, you will get the following extra features too:
Real-time carrier shipping for all items and then some more.
More advanced report of all level of activities.
Themes And Template Design Options Within Shopify
There are over 100 premium and non-premium themes offered by Shopify e-commerce platform to enable you to dress up your online store and build trust.
First, let us take a look at the premium themes.
Do note that these premium theme range from $80 to $180 and are not a recurring cost but a one time cost so an investment to giving your online store a strong reputation to build trust.
However, you do not need to invest in any premium themes if you are on a tight budget as there are many responsive free themes to get started with.
You can always upgrade to a premium theme as you start to see your sales grow.
Shopify App Store
This feature helps you add more functions to your online shop which ultimately gives an answer to the question of how to sell using Shopify. There is over 1,500 number of apps offered here so you can put more functionalities into your online shop or automate plenty of work processes.
It is important to also point out that the app store does not only contain marketing and sales tools, but it also contains tools that enable you to solve administrative problems like bookkeeping and accounting apps, fulfillment, customer services, shipping, and tracking.
Some of these apps are free but some come with a cost and they occur separately from the cost of your plan so keep an eye on this. Although as your business starts to grow and you begin to see good results, these costs won’t matter as they actually support your success.
How To Sell Using Shopify
Selling by using Shopify involves two major ways which are:
You can use their online channel to sell your products on the internet
And you can use their Shopify POS (Point of Sale) apps to sell in any retail setting using your iPad or Android which gives you access to huge market coverage.
Shopify allows you to process payment in two different ways:
To use Shopify Payment system powered by Strife; or
You can use an external payment gateway like PayPal etc all well integrated with Shopify
You can now integrate your Instagram marketing with your Shopify online store and sell product by simply tagging them on your post. Check out how to set up Instagram marketing on your Shopify on this site.
Shopify Payment and Transaction Fees
By using Shopify payment system to process your sales, all transaction fees will be waived. Only credit card fees will be paid which is just to enable Shopify to collect money from goods sold to your customers as and when they made purchases.
You can expect a credit transaction fee of about 1.6%to 2.2% plus a few cents extra but again this depends on what plan you are on. These rates do not differ much from usual purchases made anywhere else in your daily life outside of Shopify.
Again, these rates depend on your plan, The bigger your plan, the lesser the credit card transaction fees you pay.
Shopify has their payment system powered by Strife. This works well in all countries available on their platforms like Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Puerto Rico and Australia.
However, you can use other payment gateways to process your sales such as PayPal etc as Shopify integrates superbly with over 70 different payment processors out there. This helps those outside the available zone to find a suitable payment gateway that works with their country and still process sales from anywhere.
Shopify Point of Sales
This particular sales feature makes Shopify a giant among its competition. The POS kits and options enable you to sell not just online but through offline physical stores with an iOS and Andriod device.
Watch the video below to see how it works.
This is very helpful if you want to sell your product offline or host a pop-up store. You can still process your sales away from your computer whilst keeping your stock count in check and automatically synchronized.
Is Shopify Secure?
Shopify does not muck about when it comes to security. Their shopping cart is hosted on a Level 1 PCI DSS server complaint meaning your data, your customer data and your other important business data is secure.
There is also 99% uptime guarantee and a very secure backup mechanism in place to ensure all your data can be recovered should any unforeseen circumstances occur.
When it comes to anything eCommerce, be it a major player or small market share in the industry, security is always at the forefront of their business aims.
Shopify Customer Service Review
The first thing I look into before reviewing any products or services is the customer service center or help and support center as you may call it. I have had many vendors and product owners approach me for help to review their products or services but when I start asking complex questions regarding their customer services/support, some of them tend to shy away.
Now that said, let us take a look at Shopify customer service and see how you can get help and support to getting started:
First, they have an open live chat with an average of 2 minutes to get someone to start answering your questions. They have experts in all aspects of the business which means all your technical hiccups and questions has some with answer waiting to chat live at the other end.
I tested this personally and it didn’t take more than two minutes for a lady to pop in and ask ‘how can I help’ just after she introduced her self.
The second way to get help is by email. I would suggest using this as a second alternative or if you are having difficulties that will need more detailed information in order for them to ascertain how they can help you better.
The last method is by direct telephone. This is another great way to get additional help and also speak to a real human being who will be more than willing to help you.
Pros of Using Shopify
With so many Shopify reviews out there with more pros than cons, I would like to emphasize here that every attempt has been made to portray a true state of facts which my findings led me. I also noticed that what works for Mr. A may not work for Mr. B and with that said, please read on to find out among these pros to see if any resonate with you when you do try to use Shopify for your online store:
Very secure hosting and built-in high speed. Page speed is 4 seconds max meaning your customers won’t have to wait too long. Speed and security at a global level are their ultimate and all their site are SSL 100% provided and well integrated with many payment providers meaning you get paid right away and your customers don’t have to wait for slow page load on.
Shopify ‘Lite’ plan, pioneers one of the cheapest ways to start selling online using a hosted and secured solution.
Shopify app store will significantly extend the character of your online store with great functionalities. This is made easy with their most advanced app store which in itself is an invaluable tool for pushing your online store beyond more than just a built-in feature.
Shopify’ robust eCommerce platform provides enhanced abilities that include partial-refunds, SEO friendly meta descriptions that help as well as improved search filters.
Third party hosting is not required with Shopify.
Uploading products from a CSV file or migrating your store from a host to another platforms’ is very easy within Shopify.
A 14-day free trial allows you to test the waters, get used to things before committing any payment. No credit card details or any payment details are required to get the trial out.
Most importantly, there are no PCI compliance concerns which is a requirement of any merchant that takes any credit card payments. Shopify gets around all the problems of going through assessment and audit which must be passed if you are operating as an individual.
Shopify allows you to easily and quickly create a landing page which puts them ahead of other competitors out there.
Their themes are made available in a way that any designer or developer can customize to suit their shop or clients need.
Regarding taxes, Shopify helps you configure how much tax to charge based on country jurisdictions. This means when a shopper inputs their address after purchase etc, the proper tax rate will be applied to the final bill.
Having the Shopify payment system as a gateway payment processor which is powered by Stripe means you do not have to pay any transaction fees.
Very competitive pricing mostly if you use Shopify payment system.
Excellent help and support. For example, there are lots of positive reactions to Shopify’s customer support which is a rarity in today’s eCommerce industry. Many shopping cart providers cannot boast of this but Shopify seems to be doing pretty well on that.
Full control over HTML and CSS
A great track record for server up-time
Up to 165,000 active Shopify online stores, increasing as we speak which means it is a safe bet that the company is doing a pretty good job of keeping their online shop owners happy.
Setting up shop which includes adding products, setting up payment and shipping options works painlessly fine.
They offer eCommerce detailed reports in Advanced and Shopify Plus plans which enable you to see monthly performances and raw data to help you scale up your success. This can do wonders for your business if you happen to add Google Analytic to your marketing toolkit.
The cheapest plan is the ‘Shopify Lite’ for $9 but this cannot let you build a fully functional online shop with all the features you need. Unless you go for the Basic Shopify and upwards.
You cannot avoid transaction fees if you use a third-party gateway payment processor. But then what eCommerce business doesn’t attract transaction fees these days even if its outside of Shopify?
With the Shopify Payment powered by Stripe, this means you can sell from certain countries like the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. Selling from other countries outside these means you will need a third-party payment gateway. The good news is that Shopify is properly integrated with a great number of other gateway payments outside the aforementioned countries.
Starting with a small online store will seem more expensive with Shopify to start with, but will become more affordable as you start to see more sells over time. BigCommerce may sound like a good idea in terms of starting cost but lacks the many features found in Shopify which may limit your result.
Shopify is not a get rich quick scheme meaning if you expect to become successful in your online store in 20 minutes then be ready to be disappointed. You have to put in the time and effort because they do it right and they do not cut corners as you will surely see good results.
The major differences between Shopify and other e-commerce platforms out there are as follows. (Please note that the list below is not all there is as I am working on a more detailed comparison article which is coming soon.)
First, you don’t only pay for the plans on monthly basis. They also allow you to pay on an annual or biennial basis.
Shopify does offer a 10% discount on an annual and a 20% discount on a biennial plan when you pay at once or up front.
With the volume of uncertainties associated with many businesses today, most folks with a low budget do choose the monthly basis until they are certain that their business will survive long term. Shopify makes things easy for folk starting out fresh.
Another big difference between Shopify and other competitors out there can be found within the Shopify Lite Plan which whilst you are not getting the full hosted online store, it still does allow you to make use of a handful of vital Shopify tools for an unbelievable low monthly payment. Other competitors don’t offer this.
Who Are Shopify Competitors?
Below is the list of Shopify competitors. And this is an open list as I will be updating it from time to time just as new competitors do pop up:
Let us take a look at the general trends and opinions of people regarding what Shopify is and how it works.
Google Search Term on Shopify
From the above statistics, you can see for the past 5 years, there has been a tremendous growth in search activities relating to Shopify. Also, the recent spike in search from 2012 to date and ongoing is enough to tell you that your online store is on to something big with Shopify. If you are still considering, now is the time. I am not going to do any comparison between eBay and Amazon for the sole reason that it is not the purpose of this report in any way.

Overview Of How To Start With Amazon FBA
If you are planning to sell online, it will be more advantageous to consider Amazon’s fulfillment program known as FBA which stands for “Fulfillment By Amazon”. Also known as Fulfillment company that provides storage and shipping services to their client’s products. The client here is you the seller, and your buyers already exist in the Amazon market place which makes them your buyers and your ready made market.
Once you have an Amazon selling account, you can contact the Amazon customer service department to help you set up your FBA account which also gives you an actual FBA representative who will also be helping you with any issues in the future and will actually work you through your first shipment.
But before you jump right in, there are things you the seller and as a business person should know in advance because these are things no one will easily tell you about getting started except may be you did your thorough research just like you are doing right now on my site today.
I will discourse these step in the next paragraph below.
Items You Will Need Very Handy Before Setting Up Your Amazon FBA Account
The list below consist of item you need to consider having very handy before starting the process of creating your Amazon FBA account. Some are a must have while others are up to you and depends on your account type:-
Are you choosing the Professional account? It is $0.00 first month free. Then after a month it is $39.99 per months but you can always switch to individual account if you choose to.
If you are choosing the Professional account, then what is your base line or break even point? Again this boils down to how much you want to start with. (Your Initial capital).
You may not need your bank details handy right away but on your seller account, it will be needed to send your payment so you might just as well do it at once right from the beginning.
Are you considering the individual account? Which by the way is $0.99 cent per unit of every item sold and preferably best choice for beginners.
Have you decided on your seller name yet? Because believe it or not someone else probably has the same name as yours. You can use your own name but lots of folks out there use alias or even better still, use their company name. The point here is to be different and unique and if you are brand oriented with your private label for example then use it.
You will need to have your W-9 Form handy with your social security number as Amazon is required to report payment with the IRS.
You need to ask yourself which sub-niche you want to go into. Is it Private labeling? Or Retail Arbitraging? How about Wholesale and Treasure Hunting with your FBA program? Again these are optional as it is not a requisite but very vital decision you should make on your own.
You will need a lively credit card very handy.
Things To Watch Out For and Be Careful With When Signing Your Agreement With Your Amazon FBA Account Set Up
Read the agreement thoroughly before accepting
Amazon has the right to deduct from your account if it goes negative as a result of warehousing and or shipping cost not paid as suppose. That is if you have insufficient fund in your account balance.
Be very clear of which type of account you want. Either professional or individual account and make sure you understand your responsibilities to maintain it.
The power to deduct from your account is clearly stated on the second part of your agreement should you say you weren’t aware if such event occurs. Usually this will not be an issue as you will be busy making more money from your items which will in turn take care of your fees.
Therefore peal your eyes on your account to make sure it stays out of negative.
How do you choose to send your inventory? Are you mix-mingling them? (commingling) Or labeled? I would prefer labeled as this will ensure your items doesn’t get mixed or sent wrongly to buyers which will make angry buyers and first impression go wrong. You don’t want to start off with very bad rating are you?
Always have it at the back of your mind to carefully select your products.
Avoid selling items that are prone to counterfeiters because you could be seen as selling fakes and run the risk of getting your account closed not to mention bad rating and high customer returns.
Make you understand that you are responsible for paying your sales tax. This is very important. In fact it is the most important and it is stated very clear in their agreement F-14 Tax Matters. Although they offer sellers tax collection services for a fee, it is up to you and you will need a State Registration Number depending on your location from and where you want Amazon to do the services for you.
You can choose to take things slowly or step by step and see how your business pans out before worrying yourself with all the paper work involved with registrations.
