Shopify eCommerce Platform Review

In this Shopify eCommerce platform review, you will find insightful answers to questions like; what is Shopify? Where and when did Shopify start? Is Shopify secure? How much does it cost to sell on Shopify? What pros and cons are associated with this eCommerce platform and what are people saying about it.

Where Did Shopify Start?

Shopify eCommerce platform “was founded in 2004, by a Canadian e-commerce company Situated in Ottawa Ontario. Its services were initially based on software written by its founder Tobias Lutke for their snowboard store. The company reports that it has over 300,000 merchants using its platform thereby generating about $10 billion”. Source: Wikipedia

What Is Shopify

Shopify eCommerce platform is a web dependable application that gives you the opportunity to create your own online store with ease. A solution that gives you what you need to set up your online store with zero technical or coding experience. A complete turnkey eCommerce from end to end.

The core competency within Shopify as my research tells me is their ability to bring e-commerce solutions to both specialist and newbies with ease without the hassle of a middleman or duplicated due process.

This means anyone without much in the way of design or technical skills can build an online store and say bye bye to a design agency.

The platform also makes things much easier for people that are familiar with HTL and CSS because they are allowed to edit both and have a good amount of control over their framework.

How Much Does It Cost To Sell On Shopify

If this is your first time, then you will be pleased to find out that there are five Shopify Plans one can choose from to suit your business needs, Which, to be frank, is quite different from what other competitors are offering as my ongoing research tells me.

The five plans are:

  • Shopify Lite = $9 per month
  • Basic Shopify = $29 per month
  • Shopify  = $79 per month
  • Advanced Shopify = $229 per month
  • Shopify Plus = The fees here are negotiable as they cater for a client with big businesses that attracts huge transactions.

From my findings, it will be good to point out here that there is no such thing as something for nothing within the Shopify e-commerce platform. It is a professional e-commerce platform built for the sole purpose of helping folk achieve their e-commerce dreams with ease and peace of mind.

Among all the plans offered, the ‘Shopify Lite’ plan is the cheapest at $9 per month and obviously not the ultimate plan that can bring you success. If you really want to build a successful online eCommerce store, then their ‘Basic Shopify’, ‘Shopify’ and ‘Advanced Shopify’ plans will be a better suit for you.

On the other hand, if you already have a website like WordPress, Joomla, Wix, etc and you just needed some sort of eCommerce to tweak your website into an online store, then the Shopify Lite plan will be the best option to get.

Themes And Template Design Options Within Shopify

There are over 100 premium and non-premium themes offered by Shopify e-commerce platform to enable you to dress up your online store and build trust.

First, let us take a look at the premium themes.

Shopify premium ecommerce theme

Do note that these premium theme range from $80 to $180 and are not a recurring cost but a one time cost so an investment to giving your online store a strong reputation to build trust.

However,  you do not need to invest in any premium themes if you are on a tight budget as there are many responsive free themes to get started with.

Shopify free ecommerce theme

You can always upgrade to a premium theme as you start to see your sales grow.

Shopify App Store

This feature helps you add more functions to your online shop which ultimately gives an answer to the question of how to sell using Shopify. There is over 1,500 number of apps offered here so you can put more functionalities into your online shop or automate plenty of work processes.

Shopify apps store

It is important to also point out that the app store does not only contain marketing and sales tools, but it also contains tools that enable you to solve administrative problems like bookkeeping and accounting apps, fulfillment, customer services, shipping, and tracking.

Some of these apps are free but some come with a cost and they occur separately from the cost of your plan so keep an eye on this. Although as your business starts to grow and you begin to see good results, these costs won’t matter as they actually support your success.

How To Sell Using Shopify

Selling by using Shopify involves two major ways which are:

  1. You can use their online channel to sell your products on the internet
  2. And you can use their Shopify POS (Point of Sale) apps to sell in any retail setting using your iPad or Android which gives you access to huge market coverage.

how to sell using shopify

Shopify allows you to process payment in two different ways:

  • To use Shopify Payment system powered by Strife; or
  • You can use an external payment gateway like PayPal etc all well integrated with Shopify
  • You can now integrate your Instagram marketing with your Shopify online store and sell product by simply tagging them on your post. Check out how to set up Instagram marketing on your Shopify on this site.

Shopify Payment and Transaction Fees

By using Shopify payment system to process your sales, all transaction fees will be waived. Only credit card fees will be paid which is just to enable Shopify to collect money from goods sold to your customers as and when they made purchases.

You can expect a credit transaction fee of about 1.6%to 2.2% plus a few cents extra but again this depends on what plan you are on. These rates do not differ much from usual purchases made anywhere else in your daily life outside of Shopify.

Again, these rates depend on your plan, The bigger your plan, the lesser the credit card transaction fees you pay.

Payment Gateways

Shopify has their payment system powered by Strife. This works well in all countries available on their platforms like Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Puerto Rico and Australia.

However, you can use other payment gateways to process your sales such as PayPal etc as Shopify integrates superbly with over 70 different payment processors out there. This helps those outside the available zone to find a suitable payment gateway that works with their country and still process sales from anywhere.

Shopify Point of Sales

This particular sales feature makes Shopify a giant among its competition. The POS kits and options enable you to sell not just online but through offline physical stores with an iOS and Andriod device.

Watch the video below to see how it works.

This is very helpful if you want to sell your product offline or host a pop-up store. You can still process your sales away from your computer whilst keeping your stock count in check and automatically synchronized.

Is Shopify Secure?

Shopify does not muck about when it comes to security. Their shopping cart is hosted on a Level 1 PCI DSS server complaint meaning your data, your customer data and your other important business data is secure.

There is also 99% uptime guarantee and a very secure backup mechanism in place to ensure all your data can be recovered should any unforeseen circumstances occur.

When it comes to anything eCommerce, be it a major player or small market share in the industry, security is always at the forefront of their business aims.

Shopify Customer Service Review

The first thing I look into before reviewing any products or services is the customer service center or help and support center as you may call it. I have had many vendors and product owners approach me for help to review their products or services but when I start asking complex questions regarding their customer services/support, some of them tend to shy away.

Now that said, let us take a look at Shopify customer service and see how you can get help and support to getting started:

Shopify customer service review

First, they have an open live chat with an average of 2 minutes to get someone to start answering your questions. They have experts in all aspects of the business which means all your technical hiccups and questions has some with answer waiting to chat live at the other end.

I tested this personally and it didn’t take more than two minutes for a lady to pop in and ask ‘how can I help’ just after she introduced her self.

The second way to get help is by email. I would suggest using this as a second alternative or if you are having difficulties that will need more detailed information in order for them to ascertain how they can help you better.

The last method is by direct telephone. This is another great way to get additional help and also speak to a real human being who will be more than willing to help you.

Pros of Using Shopify

With so many Shopify reviews out there with more pros than cons, I would like to emphasize here that every attempt has been made to portray a true state of facts which my findings led me. I also noticed that what works for Mr. A may not work for Mr. B and with that said, please read on to find out among these pros to see if any resonate with you when you do try to use Shopify for your online store:

  • Very secure hosting and built-in high speed. Page speed is 4 seconds max meaning your customers won’t have to wait too long. Speed and security at a global level are their ultimate and all their site are SSL 100% provided and well integrated with many payment providers meaning you get paid right away and your customers don’t have to wait for slow page load on.
  • Shopify  ‘Lite’ plan, pioneers one of the cheapest ways to start selling online using a hosted and secured solution.
  • Shopify app store will significantly extend the character of your online store with great functionalities. This is made easy with their most advanced app store which in itself is an invaluable tool for pushing your online store beyond more than just a built-in feature.
  • Shopify’ robust eCommerce platform provides enhanced abilities that include partial-refunds, SEO friendly meta descriptions that help as well as improved search filters.
  • Third party hosting is not required with Shopify.
  • Uploading products from a CSV file or migrating your store from a host to another platforms’ is very easy within Shopify.
  • A 14-day free trial allows you to test the waters, get used to things before committing any payment. No credit card details or any payment details are required to get the trial out.
  • Most importantly, there are no PCI compliance concerns which is a requirement of any merchant that takes any credit card payments. Shopify gets around all the problems of going through assessment and audit which must be passed if you are operating as an individual.
  • Shopify allows you to easily and quickly create a landing page which puts them ahead of other competitors out there.
  • Their themes are made available in a way that any designer or developer can customize to suit their shop or clients need.
  • Regarding taxes, Shopify helps you configure how much tax to charge based on country jurisdictions. This means when a shopper inputs their address after purchase etc, the proper tax rate will be applied to the final bill.
  • Having the Shopify payment system as a gateway payment processor which is powered by Stripe means you do not have to pay any transaction fees.
  • Very competitive pricing mostly if you use Shopify payment system.
  • Excellent help and support. For example, there are lots of positive reactions to Shopify’s customer support which is a rarity in today’s eCommerce industry. Many shopping cart providers cannot boast of this but Shopify seems to be doing pretty well on that.
  • Full control over HTML and CSS
  • A great track record for server up-time
  • Up to 165,000 active Shopify online stores, increasing as we speak which means it is a safe bet that the company is doing a pretty good job of keeping their online shop owners happy.
  • Setting up shop which includes adding products, setting up payment and shipping options works painlessly fine.
  • They offer eCommerce detailed reports in Advanced and Shopify Plus plans which enable you to see monthly performances and raw data to help you scale up your success. This can do wonders for your business if you happen to add Google Analytic to your marketing toolkit.

Cons:

  • The cheapest plan is the ‘Shopify Lite’ for $9 but this cannot let you build a fully functional online shop with all the features you need. Unless you go for the Basic Shopify and upwards.
  • You cannot avoid transaction fees if you use a third-party gateway payment processor. But then what eCommerce business doesn’t attract transaction fees these days even if its outside of Shopify?
  • With the Shopify Payment powered by Stripe, this means you can sell from certain countries like the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. Selling from other countries outside these means you will need a third-party payment gateway. The good news is that Shopify is properly integrated with a great number of other gateway payments outside the aforementioned countries.
  • Starting with a small online store will seem more expensive with Shopify to start with, but will become more affordable as you start to see more sells over time. BigCommerce may sound like a good idea in terms of starting cost but lacks the many features found in Shopify which may limit your result.
  • Shopify is not a get rich quick scheme meaning if you expect to become successful in your online store in 20 minutes then be ready to be disappointed.  You have to put in the time and effort because they do it right and they do not cut corners as you will surely see good results.

Shopify Vs Competitors

The major differences between Shopify and other e-commerce platforms out there are as follows. (Please note that the list below is not all there is as I am working on a more detailed comparison article which is coming  soon.)

  • First, you don’t only pay for the plans on monthly basis. They also allow you to pay on an annual or biennial basis.
  • Shopify does offer a 10% discount on an annual and a 20% discount on a biennial plan when you pay at once or up front.
  • With the volume of uncertainties associated with many businesses today, most folks with a low budget do choose the monthly basis until they are certain that their business will survive long term. Shopify makes things easy for folk starting out fresh.
  • Another big difference between Shopify and other competitors out there can be found within the Shopify Lite Plan which whilst you are not getting the full hosted online store, it still does allow you to make use of a handful of vital Shopify tools for an unbelievable low monthly payment. Other competitors don’t offer this.

Who Are Shopify Competitors?

Below is the list of Shopify competitors. And this is an open list as I will be updating it from time to time just as new competitors do pop up:

BigCommerce

Volusion

WooCommerce

Magento

Squarespace

    Richard,
I have read several review of Shopify before. Yours is very complete. How long is you purchase the basic package before you can see a return of you investment and break even. I have seen programs that take six months or a year to break even or make money with a lot of work. Less work and it will take longer.
Does Shopify help you find vendors to supply the goods you sell on your e-commerce store.

      Thanks for that John.

I am at my early stage yet but one cannot expect to see success in 20 minutes within Shopify. Look at it this way; Shopify is like your rented physical store on the high street. Only this time it is online and a web based.

Yes they have all the tools to help you make sales and market your products but Shopify does not actually go out and find vendors for you.

This is becuase it is your business and your responsiblity to make sales. The great news is that you are only focusing all your energy in doing just that which is sales. All the tech aspect of setting up shop and sorting shipping out is made easy by Shopify tools.

      I hope this helps.

      Thanks again.

Wow you clearly Shopify, you’ve wrote a really great article here. I tried it a couple of times before but got nowhere because I had no idea what to sell (I’m much better off with affiliate marketing!) although I was thinking about doing something in the future.

I know Shopify is based around dropshipping and that they have suppliers already built into the system but does that mean you can’t find and use your own?

    Cheers and great review 🙂

Great to hear that and good to know you have tried things out yourself. Yes it can be overwhelming especially with choice of what to sell. That is where your skill at affiliate marketing should play important role. Which is your ability to narrow down one product and one product only. Study the crap out it and find out everything you need about that one products. From the manufacturers to the retail price on the street.

This is what i will do if i am in your position. And Shopify has made it very easy to set up online shop with their platform once you have identfied what product you want, understand your market and ready to start sourcing and selling.

Lastly yes you can set up online store on your own but you will be testing stuff untill you find what works and that includes blowing your hard cash on stuffs too. Lastly if you are going to be accepting credit card for payment on your store, then it have to be thoroughly vetted and audited for compliance which is another bake of cake entirely. But all these has been taking care of by Shopify. All you do is set up shop and sell your products.

I personally am familiar with many people who use Shopify to a great end.

I really liked your review as well, you went through pretty much everything and anything – it ended up being quite extensive!

Very detailed review, thanks. There are so many shopping carts out there to choose from, and I don’t like wasting time learning a platform only to have to change later. I used to use oscommerce, but I don’t feel it is that user friendly, at least it wasn’t. I will look further into shopify

Very true indeed. Too many distraction out there is already a huge problem to succeeding these days. But with focus and the right help and platform, it is possible.

I looked into osCommerce they are OK but quite frankly they are way behind what Shopify has achieved so far and still going to archive in the near future. Their mission is to make setting up online store as simple and reputable as possible and they are doing great at it. Also they have lots of apps that will help take care of minor administrative things while you focus on the main thing which is sale.

Also there are army of app developers within the platform who are coming up with new apps that will easily support business process constantly.

Don’t go crazy on buying apps you wont really need for now though. Just focus on driving traffic to your store and start getting sales in.

Feel free to look into them and you can advantage of their 14 Days Free Trial period to see how things pen out!!

      Hope this helps today.

    Hello again Richard,
Wow the POS system for shopify is brilliant! I’m a traditional man so even when my website is all that I need, I still rent an office for me to operate and I advice my clients to do so as well.

Currently I’ve been telling my clients to go for Wix but I think Shopify is really more worth it don’t you think? When you have a small business and you’re just starting out, I believe that POS system makes you look sleek and up to trends instead of the usual cash register. After all, having a small biz is all about being different. Loving your shopify review, you’ve definitely convinced me!

    1. Richard U. Post author

Thanks Raiz I appreciate that a lot.

Yes their POS is superb and not only sleek and trendy, it is everything all online and offline store owners need. It helps you cut cost and focus on better customer service and relation. It simplifies a lot of admin huddles and allows you to put more effort in the main objective which is sales.

Your clients will love it. In fact they will see you as a hero, a problem solver and trust me, word of mouth will got out and you will see your client based increase exponentially. They have this partnership business thing going which will can fit into you client base as well. You can make tons of money with it while you are helping your client. All you have to do is get a plan and set up your store or you can easily migrate one if you already has an online store. They have made it easy to migrate.

Wix are doing well but they haven’t got all the tools in under one roof just like Shopify who has everything under one roof. Which again is done for you.

Let me know how it goes and best of luck.

Hey! Great review – I’m looking to start my own small online store with some artwork of my own. I’ve been looking into different options. You seem to recommend Shopify pretty highly but would you recommend it for an artist like me? Also what would be the advantage of paying extra rather than simply using WooCommerce with WordPress and have my own website?

    Reply
    1. Richard U. Post author

      Hi Martina,

      Thanks for the comment.

Where do I start? In fact I can write you a whole book on best options based on what you have just mentioned but am afraid time will not permit. Nevertheless I will give you a little peek for free because you took the time to comment:

1, According to my findings, Shopify is top of the food chain when it comes to eCommerce. They have huge investment, well rated and better ranking and they have everything under one roof just like WA is doing with Affiliate marketing. All you need do is pick up a plan you are comfortable with and set up your online store.

2, For an artist like you? I am shocked you asked. Hey do you know how much value are been currently placed on independent artists like you in the market at moment? Even the anonymous artists like Banksy are a whole house hold brand not to mention known and up coming one like yours if not celebrated already?. Shopify is perfect for you. With them you have the ultimate freedom to focus on producing and creative a mind blowing art persistently.

All you need to do is set up a shop with all your portfolio pictures uploaded, both current and work in progress placed on your store. Choose Shopify payment system which attracts zero transaction fees on credit cards, select a fulfillment or delivery method that best suits you, add a little premium to your price to cover delivery cost and over heads and you are good to go. You will be surprised to find out that some of your work will be priceless if you have a good history or story behind it.

Don’t worry about design and perfection for now, just get the world out their about your store by any means both online and offline, invest a little in PPC and start getting sales first. From there you will know what art suits your customers and you can focus on feeding the market with those response. All the tweaks and changes can distract you from the main goal which is to make sale. After all you will like to see results before your 14 Days Free Trial Ends, Finally I am working on a comparison articles of Shopify vs others and I can’t wait to push it out because it will answer all up coming questions regarding such. But to answer your last questions, below are few to take home:

WooCommerce still involves you having to do lots on design aspect which will slow your times frame to start making sales. And they haven’t got all the cutting edge tools found in Shopify that can help speed up setting your online store. Put it this way, When you choose Basic Plan for example, all your tech worries will be taken care of because that is what you are paying for. You just set up and start selling. Also they have a superb help and support better than others.

With WordPress, yes you can. But think about the time it will take you to set up. You have to worry about which gateway payment system to use and which payment encryption security measures to protect card fraud online. Also you have to be good with Java programming to make your store competitive enough in the eCommerce industry. I am not going to mention possible other project you may be involved into which will again eat into your time. This is what Shopify is good at. With them all you need do is set up and start selling. They have taken care of all the aforementioned problems for you.

I hope this helps you today? Let me know.

Very detailed review. I have always thought about starting a shopify store, but for some reason, I seem to have stayed away.

Reading your review makes me want to try again. The only question I have is how do the Shopify merchants do their marketing? Is there a blog attached there as well? Or does Shopify itself assist with that? Sorry for all the questions, but a big decision on spending money there would probably be the answers to these questions.

    1. Richard U. Post author

      Hi Jagi,

Thanks for the comment and the question.

Not at all. I like taking questions it helps me connect better with my readers.

Yes there is in built blog roll any merchant can use and talk about their merchant and there is also an inbuilt SEO tools that will help you reach out much faster. With your knowledge from Wealthy Affiliate i am sure you have a better chance of promoting your store real quickly so you can see results.

To answer the other questions, No Shopify does not do marketing for online store owners on their platform. It is not part of their business. As it is your store and your business, you alone knows it better than anyone. Hence it is your responsibility to promote it and drive traffic to it by any means known to you.

Shopify is there to provide you with all the tools you need to make your online store a professional and perfect eCommerce business. You will stand out and compete well within the industry.

They will provide you with a complete online store set up with all the help and support you will need,

You will have access to their payment processing system which attracts zero transaction fee on card purchases.

Their payment system also integrates well with numerous gateway payment process like Paypal etc, meaning you are sure to get paid from anywhere in the world once purchase is made on your store.

You will have access to Shopify POS which is the best so far in the industry.

In overall, they have a 14 Days Free Trial of no obligation, no payment of what over. Meaning if you do not like what you see, you can cancel within the trial period.

I hope this helped answer your questions today. Do let know.

      Cheers.

Most websites I buy stuff from online actually use shopify, so as a consumer I know it is safe. This post was interesting because it gives me a behind the scenes look of how it works and how much it costs.

I suppose its only smart to purchase this when your website is making a good amount of traffic with potential sales, I am helping my friend target his clothing line on his website and I will be letting him know to check your review out because it is very detailed.

    Hey Richard,

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Shopify, such as it having very throughout guides and even coaching from some of the industry leaders like Marie Forleo and Tim Frerris. Unfortunately I haven’t a product of my own yet but I’ll be sure to check Shopify out when I do. 😉

    Thanks for sharing!

    Cheers,

Great article, Richard… Very thorough and informative. I was completely unaware that Shopify has 5 different plans. That is extremely helpful because it seems you can pick the exact plan that works with your budget and business. I hate getting pigeon-holed into a plan that is either too big for my business needs or in some cases too small.

Are you able to upgrade (or downgrade) as your business grows and changes?

Indeed you can. They have a very good help and support team that can actually advice you on that and help you through with the plan that will help your business go further. You can use their live chat handle to asked away and you will be speaking to an expert who understands your very specific needs. I tested this my self and it works.

If you choose a basic plan for example and your store start seeing growth after few months you can always upgrade to bigger plan. And the same applies if you want to reverse the situation. Its all about you responding to your business trends and growths.

No one likes surprises and that is why their plans packages was made very simple and clear.

Choose what you think fits with your business and go for it. You can even test the waters with their free trials just to get a feel of what will suit you. After which you will have a clear picture of what to do.

That is a great article full of a ton of information on ecommerce.
I think Shopify is totally legit as reflected in it’s high share price. It is a publicly traded company I wish I would have bought last year. You would have doubled your money.

Customers clearly love it and it is I believe here to stay. What do you believe is it’s main competitor? Amazon seems to be the big boy on the street, I just hate the low commission structure. Thanks for this, it was an extremely well done review.

      Thanks for the comment.

Amazon is in a different league because their market structure encompasses both fulfillment and storage as well as high street shop. But Shopify is focused on one thing and they are very good at it. Which is eCommerce. They even niche down on how to set up an online store from anywhere. This is why they are better and why their clients are very happy.

Their POS system is the best in the sense that you can set up an online store in 60 seconds and ruining. That is incredibly fast. They big organization with big budget. They have everything done for you already all you need is set up and start selling.

I was opportune to get access in other to research and review this because it is something i believe will help store owners get a bit of the eCommerce industry and scale their business very quickly.

      Cheers!

i’m helping this record producer upstart an online store and i have always been accustomed to wordpress so when i tried out shopify it seemed simple but i didn’t feel like i had as much options as i had with wordpress. i’m not sure if i didn’t dig deep enough into the themes and figure everything out before determining this but i decided to use wordpress for the time being. is the difference significant?

    1. Richard U. Post author

Quite very significant am afraid. Not because i want you to sign up or not but it will take you more time and resources to put together a platform that will enable your record producer set up and running. And even more time to start making any sell.

From experience, people always tend to spend a lot of time in tweaking and designing their online store to perfection before actually making any sale. This is where Shopify comes to play and they have taken care of all the worries for you.

Lastly the online store you are designing using WordPress will need payment gateway system that will ensure your client get paid for his products from anywhere in the world. You will need a solid payment encryption system that will ensure no card fraud happens. You will need to individually negotiate with card companies to come up with card transaction fees to charge if you are going to accept card payments.

All these has been taken care of by Shopify. All you need do is set up and start selling in 60 seconds. With Shopify payment system, your client won’t pay any card transaction fees. And They POS system is the best in the business.

      Hope this helps today.

Thanks for the comprehensive review Richard. Admittedly I don’t know as much about Shopify as I should, especially considering that I have some product ideas. Are there any best practices for dealing with a Shopify store, than can reduce the time to profit? What are the major factors that may influence success?

      Thanks for the questions.

First they already have the best practice in place which reduces the time it takes to build your online store to a 60 seconds timing..

Secondly the factors that will help influence your success heavily are traffic, exposure, promotions and more sales.

Start with their live chat. Ask any question you like. It doesn.t matter if you are a member or not. Just ask away.

      I hpoe this helps..!

One thing about technology, it usually keeps getting better. I had an ecommerce site about 10 years ago, and I could have used this service back then. It would have made things much simpler.

Question, if I wanted to sell a ebook or something from my blog, would the Shopify simple plan work for something like that? Or would there be a better solution for handling the transactions in your opinion?

    1. Richard U. Post author

Yes it would have made things a lot easier and better for you. And who knows, your online store would have been a house hold name by now.

If you want to sell stuff from your blog, yes it will work perfectly. They have what they calls site migrations for those who want to migrate and also have Shopify button for your site. This will suit you very well.

All have to do is choose a plan for the free trial set up and ask their support for your specific need. They will be happy to attend to you. In fact, you don’t have to choose a plan to get help. You can go to live chat any time or day and ask questions regarding this need.

They will be happy to assist you with that.

      Hope this helps.

From what I’ve seen Shopify is a great platform, I only used it a little when I was deciding what to when going online (later decide to start with affiliate marketing) but I was really impressed while i was their.

Their sites look great, their tutorials are very informative and their support system is quick and helpful. If you’re thinking about building your own e-commerce store then I recommend going to shopfiy

Indeed yes. It is a great place to set up an online store. It is user friendly and you don’t have to be a tech guru or programer to get started. They have got all that covered. All you need do is set up and running.

This is a well written review.

I never knew what e commerce was, but after reading your review I had no questions to ask. This site really seems great for someone who wants to set up an online business — who doesn’t want / or have the time to mess with the technical side of things.

Have you tired e commerce out for yourself? If so what was your experience like?

I did get up and running but at the time is was a bumpy ride for me. The i digress to other projects that was how i found out about Shopify. I should have started off with them from start.

Now i am warming up with great new product idea and i am testing things out gradually. What i have in mind will require a little injection of capital that is why i am taking my time.

So to answer your question, yes Shopify is a grate place to start. I should have. They have everything set up for you. All you need do is set up and start selling. Great for newbies with zero tech or programming experience.
I have experienced their customer service which is the most import part of my review work on any products or service. And they came up trump. I can personally rate them 98% The remaining 2% is the decision you have to make.

I have researched them thoroughly as you can see. I have looked into their competitors and believe it or not, they are the best right now.

      Hope this helps today?

    Hi, Richard.
Thanks for this review on Shopify, I’ve been interested in it for a long time and I’m glad I came across your site.
One thing I noticed is that the ‘Stripe’ payment system is only available in certain countries so does that mean Shopify is only available in certain countries?
Do you know of one that does offer a service to a more global market?

    Reply
    1. Richard U. Post author

Yes but it does not only limit its availability to those countries alone. It does spread through other gateway payment system like PayPal, etc meaning you can still sell and get paid from any part of the world when you set up your online store.

It is well integrated with other payment gateways that is the right interpretation for you. Shopify is the only platform that does this very well and that is why they are on top of the food chain when it comes to ecommerce industry.

      I hope this helps?

      Thanks for commenting.

    Hi Richard,

Very Thorough review! I have been interested in opening my own e-commerce shop, but I just did not have enough information on the topic to feel confident enough to move forward. I now have your site bookmarked and will be returning to it for future use.

you mentioned that if you already have a WordPress website that the lite version of Shopify would be best, can I simply insert my Shopify shop into my current relevant website?
